About The Position

The J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University is seeking applications for up to two faculty positions (continuing faculty status professorial track) to begin Fall Semester 2027. One or more positions may be filled with a visiting faculty. A successful applicant must have a JD degree, an outstanding academic background, a record that indicates a strong likelihood of becoming a well-published and nationally recognized scholar, a focus on teaching, research, and writing that will leave no time for significant law practice or consulting, and a commitment to the unique mission of BYU Law to "develop people of integrity who combine faith and intellect in lifelong service to God and neighbor."

Requirements

• JD degree
• Outstanding academic background
• Record indicating a strong likelihood of becoming a well-published and nationally recognized scholar
• Focus on teaching, research, and writing
• Commitment to the unique mission of BYU Law
• Provide individual contact information for three recommenders.
• Attach Mission Alignment Statement, current Curriculum Vitae, research agenda, and cover letter to the application.
• Relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
• Hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend (for new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).
• Support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university.
• Abide by the university’s Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in areas such as Administrative Law, Antitrust, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Employment Law, Environmental and Natural Resources Law, Evidence, Federal Courts, Health Care Law, Intellectual Property, Family Law, Professional Responsibility, and Wills, Trusts, and Estates.
• Conduct research and writing that leads to becoming a well-published and nationally recognized scholar.
• Focus on teaching, research, and writing, leaving no time for significant law practice or consulting.
• Embrace and energetically advance BYU Law's unique mission.
• Live a life of loyalty to Jesus Christ and His restored Church and align with doctrines and teachings declared by living prophets, seers, and revelators.
• Demonstrate intentionality in building faith in Jesus Christ and testimony of His restored gospel among students and others in the BYU community.
• Teach subject matter with the Spirit of God and strive to keep it "bathed in the light and color of the restored gospel."
