About The Position

The Law and Money Reporter shapes the vision for the look, feel, and voice of the organization’s products, including its digital news operation, printed weekly edition, and daily emails. The reporter produces short- and long-form stories for the website and weekly print edition, owns the beat, and directs day-to-day coverage. The role focuses on developing sources and relationships with high-level executives and community leaders, and on delivering source-driven exclusives that explain not only what happened, but why and how.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Desire and ability to break news and identify newsworthy events and sources.
• Strong analytical and investigative-interviewing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to relate comfortably to a wide range of people in person, by phone, and online.
• Drive to develop sources and build an audience.
• Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics, and story structure.
• Ability to leverage source relationships to deliver content that differentiates the organization from competitors.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Proficiency with web-based communication platforms such as Teams, Zoom, and Webex.

Nice To Haves

• Multimedia skills, including video, photography, broadcast, or on-camera experience.
