Freelance Reporter/Analyst – Cybersecurity and AI Law Report and Anti-Corruption Report
About The Position
The Cybersecurity and AI Law Report and Anti-Corruption Report are seeking an experienced reporter or analyst to work on a freelance basis. The Law Report Group combines reporting and proprietary legal analysis to provide actionable intelligence on critical business issues. The Anti-Corruption Report covers legal, regulatory, compliance, and operational issues in global anti-corruption, sanctions, and trade controls. The Cybersecurity and AI Law Report covers legal, regulatory, compliance, and operational aspects of data privacy, AI, and cybersecurity. The role involves producing long-form articles based on interviews and other interactions with industry experts. Articles address developments such as regulations, laws, breaches, decisions, settlements, and guidelines, along with industry best practices and other topics relevant to subscribers. After training, the reporter or analyst will identify topics and trends relevant to subscribers, build relationships with industry participants, and attend panels and webinars.
Requirements
- At least three years of reporting or analyst experience.
- Excellent reporting, writing, research, interviewing, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently produce engaging, thorough, sophisticated long-form articles of 2,500–3,000 words under deadline that require minimal editing.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent proofreading skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience covering legal topics, especially AI, privacy, cybersecurity, anti-corruption, sanctions, or export controls.
- Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree.
Responsibilities
- Research and write long-form feature, thematic, Q&A, analysis, and webinar or panel coverage articles based on interviews and other interactions with industry experts.
- Cover relevant developments, industry best practices, and other topics for subscribers, including regulations, laws, breaches, decisions, settlements, and guidelines.
- After a training period, identify article topics, themes, trends, and ideas central to subscribers’ day-to-day business practices, primarily through source engagement and also through reading, viewing webinars, and other information gathering.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key industry participants to understand practitioners’ pain points, cultivate article sources, gather industry intelligence, and explore event and other collaboration opportunities.
- Attend panels and webinars.
