About The Position

The Law and Money Reporter defines a clear and compelling vision for the look, feel, and voice of the organization’s products, including its digital news operation, printed weekly edition, and daily emails. The reporter produces short- and long-form stories for the website and weekly print edition, owns the beat, and directs day-to-day coverage. The role focuses on developing sources, building relationships with high-level executives and community leaders, and delivering source-driven exclusives that explain not only what happened but why and how.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Desire and ability to break news and identify newsworthy events and sources.
• Strong analytical and investigative-interviewing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to relate comfortably to a wide range of people in person, by phone, and online.
• Drive to develop sources and build audience.
• Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics, and story structure.
• Ability to leverage source relationships to produce content that differentiates the organization from competitors.
• Proficiency with MS Office products.
• Proficiency with web-based communication platforms such as Teams, Zoom, and Webex.

Nice To Haves

• Multimedia skills, including video, photography, broadcast, or on-camera experience.
