About The Position

The J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University (BYU Law) is seeking an Adjunct Faculty Member to teach a course on e-discovery. This course will introduce students to issues involving electronic discovery and the electronic storage of information, emphasizing the impact of the digital age on law. Students will examine statutes, regulations, and case law related to electronic information management, as well as proactive data management strategies to reduce risks and costs. The role includes hands-on experience through practical exercises and software utilization. The adjunct faculty member will report to the Law School's Associate Dean for Faculty & Curriculum and will be expected to address questions related to the class outside of scheduled teaching times. The time taught will be determined by the applicant's schedule.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required, completed by the start date.
  • Active member of the Utah Bar.
  • Knowledge of e-discovery topics.
  • Significant teaching experience.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • Must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend (if a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).
  • Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Must support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a course on e-discovery, covering electronic discovery and information storage.

  • Provide hands-on experience through practical exercises and software utilization for litigation or eDiscovery tasks.
