About The Position

The Laundry Department is responsible for maintaining the facility in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards and facility guidelines. The department ensures an adequate supply of linen is available to meet residents’ needs. The role works under direction of the Administrator and/or Director of Laundry Services. The shift is 3 PM–11 PM.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• A friendly attitude and excellent communication skills are required.
• Must be able to express oneself adequately in written and oral communication and communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a healthcare environment in Environmental Services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow work and cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
• Clean walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and waxed floors according to department procedures and cleaning schedules.
• Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
• Dispose of trash, waste, biohazardous waste, and other materials requiring special handling according to facility policies and procedures.
• Post signs to indicate safety hazards whenever housekeeping activities create environmental hazards for staff, residents, visitors, or others.
• Use personal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids, and whenever facility policies and procedures require it.
• Follow safety instructions and procedures when using chemical substances.
• Refer to product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets for chemical-use instructions.
• Keep chemicals and cleaning supplies in their original containers.
• Ask a supervisor for assistance when unsure of proper handling techniques.
