About The Position

The Laundry Attendant manages the finishing processes for laundry materials, including folding, pressing, sorting, and storing. The role supports the luxury standards and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while maintaining discretion and professionalism. Work schedules and hours vary based on departmental needs, and the attendant must be available for a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends, and high-business-demand periods.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Meet the physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift, including frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, overhead reaching, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds, and pushing, pulling, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
• Frequently push carts weighing up to 350 pounds.
• Work safely and effectively in outdoor temperatures.
• Communicate effectively one-on-one and use a two-way radio clearly and accurately with coworkers.
• Read instructions, reports, and log sheets accurately and work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
• Produce, read, and understand reports; analyze written information from a variety of sources and communicate report content effectively.
• Work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and applicable laws, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Be open to a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends, and high-business-demand times.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in a commercial laundry or housekeeping environment.

Responsibilities

• Work respectfully and cooperatively with team members.
• Finish club and pool towels, room linens and terry, Spa linens, and food and beverage linens.
• Operate towel-folding equipment and finish-fold terry items as needed.
• Operate both sides of pressing equipment by feeding linens into the press and receiving, folding, and loading pressed linen into carts for transport.
• Fold clothing from locker room bags and ensure items are accurately returned.
• Maintain clean and sanitary work areas for processed linens.
• Alert Engineering and management to equipment failures or workplace hazards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
