About The Position
The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring all hotel linens, towels, and other laundry items are cleaned, dried, folded, and properly stored according to hotel standards. This position plays an important role in maintaining cleanliness, guest satisfaction, and an efficient housekeeping operation.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull laundry and linen loads.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and frequently move throughout the laundry and housekeeping areas.
- Ability to safely handle laundry chemicals and operate commercial laundry equipment.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Ensure that the housekeeping department has an adequate supply of clean linens to meet guest needs.
Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and organize hotel linens, towels, washcloths, and other approved laundry items.
- Operate commercial washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and properly.
- Inspect linens for stains, damage, or excessive wear and remove items that do not meet quality standards.
- Treat stains and rewash items when necessary.
- Maintain an organized and sanitary laundry room at all times.
- Stock clean linens and towels in designated storage areas and assist housekeeping with linen distribution.
- Monitor laundry supplies and notify management when additional detergent, chemicals, or supplies are needed.
- Follow all hotel procedures for handling chemicals and operating equipment safely.
- Maintain proper laundry levels to support daily housekeeping operations and guest needs.
- Remove damaged or unusable linens according to hotel procedures.
- Assist with housekeeping duties when needed, including transporting linens and maintaining cleanliness in back-of-house areas.
- Follow proper safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards to management immediately.
- Protect guest privacy and handle guest items found in laundry according to hotel Lost and Found procedures.
- Maintain a professional, positive, and cooperative attitude with guests and fellow employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
