About The Position

Elderwood at Hamburg is seeking a friendly and dedicated Laundry Aide to support residents’ health and well-being by caring for facility linens and residents’ personal clothing. The work includes collecting, laundering, folding, and returning clean linens and clothing to designated locations. The available shift is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an every-other-weekend commitment for all staff. The position requires reliable attendance and the employee must provide their own transportation.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Respect for residents’ privacy and rights, and commitment to treating residents respectfully and with dignity.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.
Interest in laundry operations.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Position-related experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate the Elderwood iCARE Values consistently.
Sort soiled linens and clothing by type, degree of soiling, fabric, and color.
Label residents’ clothing and maintain records of residents’ personal possessions.
Help locate missing articles of clothing.
Load washing machines, select wash cycles, and add soaps, detergents, and bleaches.
Transfer washed linens and clothing to dryers and start the machines.
Sort and fold dry linens and prepare them for delivery to designated areas in the facility.
Prepare and distribute residents’ personal garments.
Remove lint and dust from machines and keep the laundry area clean daily.
Follow infection-control practices when processing laundry and in personal habits.
Ensure compounds and hazardous substances are stored properly.
Assist with studies of new products or laundry methods when necessary.
Arrive on time and work as scheduled; provide own transportation.
Maintain confidentiality of resident information and privacy while performing job duties.
Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor, management staff, or the Administrator.
