About The Position

True North Classical Academy is seeking a Latin Teacher to teach classical or ancient Latin in a mission-driven classical liberal arts school. The educator will use a strong command of Latin grammar and literature to help students appreciate the language’s beauty, order, and logic, while encouraging virtue and intellectual curiosity through study of the Western tradition.

The role involves planning rigorous, engaging lessons grounded in classical education principles, reviewing student data to identify growth areas, and creating a classroom culture conducive to learning and excellence. Teachers are expected to uphold high academic and moral expectations, nurture students’ sense of wonder and love of learning, and provide high-quality education to all students.

The teacher will work cooperatively with instructional coaches, learn from feedback, and improve instruction. They will also communicate regularly with parents about student performance, make provisions to be available outside normal hours, and encourage parents’ participation in their children’s learning. True North offers coaching, mentorship, professional development, and a pathway to Professional Educator’s Certification through its FLDOE-approved program. Candidates must complete Clearinghouse background screening.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree from a fully accredited college or university.
• Fluency in English and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with and alignment to the classical liberal arts curriculum and philosophy employed at True North Classical Academy.
• A view of education as a vocation and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty for student success.
• Candidates must complete Clearinghouse screening.

Nice To Haves

• A deep love of the ancient classical language and a strong command of Latin grammar and literature.
• Certification is not required; the academy offers a pathway to Professional Educator’s Certification through its FLDOE-approved program.
