Volunteer certification and/or experience does not meet the eligibility requirement for this opportunity.

Requirements

A High School Diploma and/or GED is required.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience.
Virginia Department of Fire Program or IFSAC, NBFSPQ certified Firefighter I & II
Virginia Department of Fire Programs or IFSAC, NBFSPQ certified Hazards Materials Operations
To qualify for Fire & Rescue Technician: Virginia Department of Fire Program or IFSAC, NBFSPQ certified Driver Operator Pumper
To qualify for Fire & Rescue Specialist: Virginia Department of Fire Program or IFSAC, NBFSPQ certified Fire Instructor
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to stay calm under pressure.
Physical ability to handle challenging situations.
Mental fortitude to make quick, sound decisions.

Nice To Haves

Certified as an AEMT, EMT-I, or Paramedic.

Responsibilities

Responding to emergencies, including fire, medical, or hazardous material incidents.
Engaging in critical fire suppression, life-saving rescue operations, and hazardous materials mitigation.
Ensuring that all apparatus and equipment are ready for action.
Maintaining stations in top condition.
Attending regular training sessions to stay sharp, learn new skills, and be prepared for any situation.
