About The Position

We are seeking a Weekend Shift Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality, precision metal components according to customer specifications. The Laser Operator plays an important role in maintaining production flow and meeting customer delivery requirements. This position will set up and operate laser equipment, monitor machine performance, inspect finished parts, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating laser cutting equipment or similar CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and job orders.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment.
  • Experience with CNC programming or machine setup.
  • Manufacturing technology or related technical training/certification.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality control processes.
  • Experience working with sheet metal or metal fabrication.
  • Previous experience working independently on a weekend or off-shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate laser cutting equipment according to job specifications and production requirements.
  • Review job orders, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate machine setup and production.
  • Load and position materials and verify proper machine settings before and during production.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to maintain consistent part quality and production efficiency.
  • Inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools and inspection methods to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment, material, and quality issues and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and assist with troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Accurately complete production, quality, and machine documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Communicate production, equipment, and quality concerns to appropriate team members and leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
