Large Animal Hospital Stable Assistant (CARE)
About The Position
This position involves cleaning and maintenance of patient care and holding areas and equipment, preparing and sanitizing hospital facilities, and stocking and monitoring supplies. The individual will also assist with feeding, exercising, grooming, restraint, and handling of large animal patients, primarily horses, for examinations and diagnostic procedures. A key responsibility includes assisting with the anesthetic induction and recovery of large animal patients for surgery and other procedures such as MRI, CT, and Radiology, as well as maintaining anesthetic induction/recovery suites and associated equipment. The role requires genuine care for people and animals, an outgoing and enthusiastic demeanor, and a positive attitude. This is a full-time, benefited position considered essential personnel and requires a post-offer health assessment.
Requirements
- One year of experience handling and restraining horses
- One year of experience utilizing equipment in farm facility maintenance
- Experience working with horses and an understanding of their physical and behavioral traits
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, kneel, pull, push, twist and stand for an extended period of time
Nice To Haves
- 2-3 years working in an environment that required handling and restraining horses daily
- Experience within the past 2 years meeting minimum qualifications
- Experience within a veterinary hospital setting
