About The Position

Court Language Access Services (CLAS), part of the Office of the State Court Administrator at the Oregon Judicial Department, is hiring a Language Access Scheduler (Interpreter Scheduler). CLAS works to eliminate language barriers and improve access to court services through interpreter credentialing and scheduling, language-needs planning, translation, and training. Its services support circuit courts statewide, the Tax Court, Court of Appeals, Supreme Court, and Citizen’s Review Board. The scheduler conducts language assessments; receives and documents interpreter requests; schedules and assigns interpreters; maintains interpreter and agency lists; recruits prospective interpreters; negotiates pay rates; arranges travel; and reassigns or cancels interpreters as court needs change. The role communicates with judges, court and agency staff, attorneys, law-office staff, and other users of interpreting services. The position also provides administrative support by preparing and filing correspondence, retrieving records, conducting research, answering and routing calls, and responding to routine questions about interpreter assignments. Additional duties include referring prospective interpreters to certification and training resources, assisting with video and interpreting equipment, proctoring exams, participating in professional development and special projects, mentoring and assisting others, and maintaining a desk manual. Assigned tasks may change to accommodate workload and organizational needs. This is a full-time position with a current schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked over 40 per workweek. Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, or overtime work and travel may be required. Work is performed in a complex, fast-paced business setting; hybrid work may be available with administrative approval, but in-person meetings and training or office events are required. The role involves frequent communication with people from diverse backgrounds, including people facing stressful or traumatic circumstances, extended periods sitting at a computer, and occasional lifting of items up to 40 pounds. Regular equipment includes a telephone and an OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors.
