About The Position

This position supports a Surveyor while performing boundary surveys and staking. The role offers an opportunity to learn how to become a Land Surveyor. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual who enjoys working outdoors, is dedicated, loyal, hard-working, and takes pride in completing a full day's work. A significant aspect of this role involves extensive out-of-town work, potentially up to 5 days a week. Accommodations and a per diem for food and expenses are provided. While the goal is to have employees home most weekends, occasional weekend work may be required. Travel to and from the site is compensated. The daily tasks involve checking in with the Crew Chief for the day's scope, loading necessary equipment and supplies, and maintaining the cleanliness of the company vehicle. Throughout the day, employees will drive to and from job sites, set up and tear down GPS base stations, carry supplies, and ensure they have adequate provisions for a full day. At the end of the workday, equipment is unloaded, batteries are placed on chargers, and a final check-in with the Crew Chief is conducted. Weekly tasks include submitting timecards, cleaning equipment, washing vehicles, and tidying office, bathroom, and shop areas, as well as assisting Crew Chiefs with any needed tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift 75 lbs.
  • Honest, Professional, Organized, Pays Attention to detail, Dependability, Thoroughness, Documentation Skills, Inventory Control, Safety Conscious, Strong Work Ethic, Self-driven with little or no supervision.
  • Must have current and valid driver's license with MVR that meets Company requirements.
  • Must be willing and able to enroll in a drug & alcohol screening and criminal background program.
  • Driver's License and clean driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ months experience as a Surveying Assistant
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support a Surveyor in performing boundary surveys and staking.
  • Learn the skills and knowledge required to become a Land Surveyor.
  • Check with Crew Chief for daily scope of work.
  • Load and unload survey equipment, batteries, and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of company vehicles.
  • Drive to and from job sites.
  • Set up and tear down GPS base stations.
  • Carry supplies such as lath, paint, flagging spikes, posts, etc.
  • Ensure adequate personal supplies (e.g., water) are maintained for the workday.
  • Put all batteries on chargers at the end of the day.
  • Submit timecards weekly.
  • Clean equipment, wash trucks, and clean office, bathrooms, and shop areas weekly.
  • Assist Crew Chiefs with any tasks as needed.
  • Perform mental and physical labor in outdoor conditions, subject to extreme weather.
  • Walk for long periods and/or operate ATVs through various terrains.
