About The Position

Meritage Homes is a Top 5 builder focused on energy-efficient homes and communities. We are seeking future leaders to contribute to Meritage's growth, strategic planning, and business challenge resolution. Our internship program offers an immersive business experience, networking opportunities, skill development, and a fun environment. The Land Acquisition Intern will gain comprehensive knowledge of the land acquisition process, including land searching, identification, underwriting, and closing. This involves market research, financial analysis, buyer segmentation, and product pairing, alongside understanding broader business strategy and participating in cross-functional projects. The Land Development aspect will cover all facets of new community development, from pre-acquisition to lot turnover and project close-out, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Interns will be exposed to plan procurement, site construction, contract negotiations, and schedule adherence, interacting with various departments, subcontractors, customers, and municipalities. The role also includes learning about the planning and construction necessary for preparing land parcels for building, including property value analysis, construction regulations, zoning ordinances, and environmental restrictions. This internship is part-time, commencing in October 2026 and continuing through the academic year.

Responsibilities

Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model and an assigned functional area such as construction, land, marketing, operations, purchasing, finance, human resources, etc.

Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges
Present real world business recommendations to senior leadership that can help drive our strategy
Write a paper focusing on the experience or another assigned topic
