About The Position

Meritage Homes is seeking future leaders for its Land Acquisition Internship program, designed to immerse participants in the business and develop their skills. The intern will learn the land acquisition process, including searching for, identifying, underwriting, and closing land deals. This involves market research, financial analysis, buyer segmentation, and product pairing, all while understanding the broader business strategy and participating in cross-functional projects. This is a full-time, in-person internship during the summer of 2027 in the Dallas Fort Worth metro area. The intern will work closely with internal business leaders to understand the homebuilding industry and Meritage's business model, learn core values, translate classroom experience into practical application, participate in cross-functional projects, present recommendations to senior leadership, and write a paper on their experience or an assigned topic. Meritage Homes does not provide Visa sponsorship.

Requirements

Actively enrolled in a degree program from a regionally accredited university or college

Responsibilities

Learn the land acquisition process including searching for land, identifying land, underwriting the land and the closing processes.
Conduct market research, financial analysis, buyer segmentation and product pairing.
Learn the broader business strategy.
Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders.
Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model and an assigned functional area such as construction, land, marketing, operations, purchasing, finance, human resources, etc.

Translate classroom experience into practical application during the internship.
Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges.
Present real world business recommendations to senior leadership that can help drive our strategy.
Write a paper focusing on the experience or another assigned topic.
