About The Position

Meritage Homes is seeking future leaders for its internship program, designed to provide a deep understanding of the homebuilding industry. The Land Development intern will gain exposure to all facets of new community development, from pre-acquisition to lot turnover and project close-out, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. This role involves learning about plan procurement, site construction, contract negotiations, and schedule adherence. The intern will interact with various internal departments, subcontractors, customers, and municipalities, while also learning about the planning and construction required for land preparation, including property value analyses, construction regulations, zoning ordinances, and environmental restrictions. This is a full-time, in-person internship for the summer 2027 season in Jupiter, FL, with potential travel to South Florida land sites.

Requirements

• Actively enrolled in a degree program from a regionally accredited university or college

• Relevant College Coursework/Majors: Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate, Operations, Project Management

Responsibilities

• Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model and an assigned functional area such as construction, land, marketing, operations, purchasing, finance, human resources, etc.
• Learn our core values and why they drive everything we do
• Translate classroom experience into practical application during the internship
• Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges
• Present real world business recommendations to senior leadership that can help drive our strategy
• Write a paper focusing on the experience or another assigned topic
