About The Position
The Land Animal Reptile Apprentice is responsible for the general care, cleanliness, and maintenance of assigned land animal areas and animals. Animal collection may include reptiles, invertebrates, birds, domestics, small exotics, felines, and large hoofstock. The role includes animal care and feeding, support for training sessions, show participation, educational programs, and guest relations. The position requires 40 hours of work per week, indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be comfortable speaking in front of large crowds.
- Must be articulate and able to clearly speak, read, and write in English.
- Must have good vision and hearing, with or without corrective devices such as prescription glasses.
- Must be willing to listen to and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be willing and able to work 40 hours a week, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Must possess the mental and physical capacities necessary to perform the primary responsibilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of all assigned areas.
- Prepare diets and maintain records.
- Retrieve food and supplies from the Land Animal Kitchen.
- Maintain cleanliness of offices and locker rooms.
- Learn and perform show parts as assigned.
- Assist with educational programs and guest relations.
- Assist with animal care, feeding, and training sessions as assigned.
- Perform other duties as requested.
