About The Position

The Lamination Operator is responsible for the precise application of strain gages and laminated materials to sensor components. This role involves preparing surfaces, applying adhesives, operating lamination equipment, and performing detailed inspections under magnification. The operator ensures all tasks are completed in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards, with a focus on minimizing rework and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and steady hand coordination for delicate tasks.
  • Basic computer skills (MES data entry, basic PC tasks).
  • Competent with basic hand tools such as tweezers, measurement tools, wrenches, screwdrivers and electrical aided tightening tools.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Good time management and task prioritization.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and read measurements in both fractional and decimal formats.
  • High School Diploma/GED

Responsibilities

  • Prepares station with the correct tools/fixtures and components per assembly/process drawings.
  • Performs visual inspection process of components that will have strain gages laminated (Before and after curing process).
  • Works under magnification to perform tasks (microscope or magnification lamps).
  • Inspect Gages with Backlight prior to laminating them on Sensor body.
  • Read and understand process drawings and work instructions.
  • Acquire necessary components from Bill of Material from Floor Stock locations.
  • Monitors quality in accordance with established quality specifications.
  • Obtain and pass established lamination exercises.
  • Handle, trim and adjust small strain gages and terminal strips without damaging materials.
  • Prepare surface of sensor flexure materials before and after lamination process has been completed.
  • Apply adhesive to defined surfaces and strain gage installation as indicated in process diagrams.
  • Assemble fixtures per process instructions using hand dexterity and necessary tools to tighten fixture assemblies.
  • Perform post lamination inspections and cleaning of sensor flexures and tooling.
  • Utilize Lamination Ovens and Software to run appropriate cycles (i.e.: Cure, Post Cure, Speed Cure) and review post processing data on the Oven software.
  • Perform resistance measurements using Instrumentation (DMM) (If required).
  • Document inspection results (if applicable) and process jobs in the appropriate sections of MES system.
  • Clean and organize work area and stations that work is performed at (5S).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to efficiency by meeting or exceeding process times for standard OEM models, while upholding quality standards and adjusting to the specialized needs of less frequently built custom models.
  • Perform tasks with a focus on minimizing rework and repair by adhering to quality standards and best practices.
