About The Position

As our Lactation Professional, you will be a compassionate expert, empowering new parents to achieve their lactation goals and promoting optimal infant nutrition. Every day, you will provide evidence-based education, assessment, and individualized support prenatally and postpartum. You'll address feeding challenges, develop personalized care plans, and collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure integrated support. To be successful in this role, you will possess deep clinical knowledge, exceptional communication, empathy, and patience, adapting strategies to individual needs for successful infant feeding and improved health outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate General Studies and Minimum of one-year childbirth educator or certified Doula experience
  • High School GED General Studies and Minimum of one-year childbirth educator or certified Doula experience
  • Successful completion in a certified lactation educator program
  • AHA Basic Life Support Fire Safety, within 90 Days

Nice To Haves

  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, upon hire or Certified Lactation Counser, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of safe patient care in accordance within patient care services Dignity Health's policies and procedures.
  • Maintenance of accurate records of patient care with collaboration of the RN /charge nurse.
  • Checking, cleaning, and maintenance of unit equipment, supplies, and work areas as directed by the Clinical Charge team.
  • Screen calls from parents for lactation education and problem follow-up.
  • Provide appropriate education regarding lactation to meet the individual needs of the postpartum and childbirth education preparation for the breast-feeding mom.
  • Helps promote lactation education and skills desired between staff, families, and patients for breast feeding friendly goals of NHMS.
