Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for underrepresented students. CDU is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of South Los Angeles neighborhoods. The Program Director / Instructor (PD/Instructor) for the Lactation Education Program (LEP2) is responsible for the development, implementation, instruction, and continuous improvement of CDU’s lactation education and certification program. This role integrates program leadership, curriculum development, accreditation oversight, and teaching responsibilities to ensure a high-quality, evidence-based educational experience. The PD/Instructor leads program operations in alignment with accreditation standards (LEAARC, IBLCE, CAAHEP, WASC, CEPH) and supports CDU’s mission to advance health equity and serve medically underserved communities.
