About The Position

Wright Tree Service of Canada, a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across North America. We offer a company culture focused on Safety, Family, Integrity, Excellence, and Stewardship. This is a full-time position with a pay rate of $22 to $30 per hour based on experience. We provide all necessary equipment except CSA Certified Work Boots. The work week is Monday to Friday, with potential for longer shifts based on candidate interest. Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Willingness to travel within the province of Manitoba.
  • Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Class 1 OR Class 3 license with air brakes endorsement.
  • Minimum of one year of chainsaw experience would be considered an asset.
  • Utility Tree Worker certification would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the worksite clean and organized by removing fallen tree debris, including branches, leaves, and trunks.
  • Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper.
  • Set up tools and equipment for arborists to use.
  • Help arborists assess the health and structural integrity of trees, possibly by assisting with measurements, observations, or gathering data.
  • Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Set up barriers or signs to keep the area safe for the crew and the public.
  • Help with tree removal and disposal of limbs, branches, tree debris, and underbrush around utility lines.
  • Operate and maintain arborist tools and equipment (chainsaws, ropes, etc.) safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment, including helmets, gloves, and harnesses.
  • Be willing to grow and learn in the role, through training from a designated arborist.
  • Other duties as required.
