About The Position

In this role, the Labourer supports field and shop maintenance, repair, assembly, and project activities for mining equipment and associated work scopes. This position plays a key support role to Heavy Equipment Technicians, Apprentices, Welders, and Supervisors while developing foundational mechanical skills in a mining environment. This role is intended for individuals interested in pursuing a Heavy Equipment Technician apprenticeship and building a long-term career with SMS Equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in heavy equipment
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Team-oriented approach with strong communication skills
Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
Ability to work in demanding shop and field environments
Valid class 5 driver's license

Responsibilities

Support Heavy Equipment Technicians, Apprentices, and Welders with maintenance and repair activities
Equipment cleaning, preparation, teardown, and reassembly
Parts handling, tooling setup, material movement, and shop support activities
Site setup, mobilization, and demobilization activities
Mechanical repairs and maintenance as required under the direction of qualified tradespeople
Maintain a safe and organized work environment
Complete assigned tasks in accordance with SMS Equipment safety and quality standards
Support project and outage work in both shop and field environments
