Our Energy operations consist of natural gas gathering systems, distribution services maintenance, facilities construction, and water distribution. Gas distribution is the largest segment in the pipeline distribution portfolio, offering network design and construction or rehabilitation services for gas networks across Canada and the United States. Reporting to the appropriate Site Supervisor, the Utility Labourer will be responsible to ensure the achievement of general and specific project requirements. Please note that this position is unionized, therefore it will be a requirement to join the union upon acceptance.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a similar role within the industry.
  • Physical strength and stamina.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • A safety-conscious attitude.
  • The ability to work with others in a team.
  • Ability to use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain.
  • Ability to work long hours per day, sometimes in rough weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and clean up construction sites.
  • Move materials and equipment and perform demolition, excavation, and compaction activities.
  • Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment, and construction materials; move tools, equipment, and construction materials to and from work areas; remove rubble and other debris).
  • Excavate, backfill, and compact subgrade (e.g. move and level earth using shovels and rakes, operate pneumatic tampers).
  • Assemble shoring and barricades at construction sites.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Perform repetitive movements.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adapt to continuously changing work tasks.
  • Ability to work a significant number of hours throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25 kg.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
