About The Position

The Laborer assists craft workers with physical tasks at commercial or industrial construction sites. The position operates hand and power tools and prepares and cleans work areas. Work is performed primarily outdoors, with exposure to varying weather and temperatures and travel between sites. The role requires frequent physical activity, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and handling materials. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience working as a commercial or industrial construction laborer.
• Experience operating the required hand and power tools.
• Strong reading, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to meet the described physical demands, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds without assistance and more than 50 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

• Verbal communication skills in Spanish are considered an asset but are not required.
• Certification to operate heavy equipment such as a backhoe or bobcat, if operating such equipment.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, identify, distribute, and return building materials, machinery, and tools to appropriate locations; install or remove signage, railings, and other hardware.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact or level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
• Operate hand and power tools, including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and other required tools.
• Operate heavy equipment such as a backhoe or bobcat if certified.
• Assist with erecting or dismantling scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate potential hazards.
