About The Position

Anderson Environmental Contracting, LLC (AEC) is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Fuel and Mechanical Laborer to join our Fuel-Related Construction Service Line. This is a hands-on field position responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning of fuel systems and mechanical piping. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, demonstrate a strong work ethic, follow instructions carefully, and work effectively as part of a construction crew. This position reports to the Fuel Site Superintendent. Projects are located throughout Oregon and Washington, and regular out-of-area and overnight travel is required.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, clients, and other project personnel.
  • Ability to understand safety instructions and complete required field documentation in English.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Willingness to comply with all company and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Oregon and Washington, including overnight and extended out-of-area assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous construction, fuel-system, mechanical piping, or environmental field experience.
  • Knowledge of (or a willing interest in) fuel-system installation procedures, including: Primary and secondary fuel lines and containment systems, Fuel sumps and dispenser installations, Tank setting and fuel turbines.
  • Experience working with mechanical piping systems.
  • Familiarity with construction hand tools and power tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Current industry-related licenses, certifications, or training.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification and 8 hour refresher
  • Confined Space Entry training
  • Current respirator medical clearance and fit testing
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Forklift or other equipment-operation certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on construction activities necessary to support successful project completion.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning of fuel systems and mechanical piping.
  • Install and support primary and secondary fuel lines, containment systems, sumps, dispensers, tanks, and fuel turbines.
  • Load, unload, move, organize, and stage construction tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and other construction equipment for which the employee has been trained and authorized.
  • Assist equipment operators, pipefitters, Site Superintendents, and other members of the field crew.
  • Perform work in confined spaces, including fuel tanks, after completing required training and authorization.
  • Follow project plans, work instructions, safety requirements, and applicable installation procedures.
  • Participate in daily tailgate meetings, job safety analyses, inspections, and other required safety activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and promptly report unsafe conditions, damage, or maintenance concerns.
  • Complete required field and safety documentation accurately and on time.
  • Follow the direction of the Fuel Site Superintendent and respond appropriately to changing field priorities.
  • Perform other duties and project assignments as needed.
