About The Position

Sundt is looking for a Basic Laborer to assist the border fence panel installation crew. This role involves preparing the work area, handling materials, guiding panels into place, installing braces and mesh, maintaining site cleanliness, and performing other general labor duties as directed. The position requires passing a pre-employment drug test and availability to work overtime. The rate is $25/hr plus a cash fringe benefit, with work hours of 60+. A weekly per diem of $1246 is offered to qualified candidates. The estimated project duration is 1 year. The job summary states that the laborer will assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties and may work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. The individual must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.

Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be available to work overtime.
  • Effective Math skills - add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • NCCER Core Curriculum and /or a High School diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
  • One year experience (level I), two years' experience (level II) and three plus years' experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry is preferred.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties.

  • Eliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
  • Ask a supervisor before continuing if unsure about any aspect of the work or issues regarding safe practices.
  • Learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work.
  • Learn to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment.
  • Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means and methods regarding the work and be willing to learn from others.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.
  • Produce high quality work, safely and productively at all times.
  • Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment and information is available for the work.
