About The Position

The Laborer assists a Foreman and skilled craft workers with assigned duties under close supervision. This is generally an entry-level position and a first step toward learning a trade skill. The work involves routine construction activities at and around the Jacksonville airport. Candidates must be able to drive, pass a background check for security clearance, and have a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). The role requires strenuous physical activity and is performed outdoors in changing weather conditions.

Requirements

• Must be able to drive.
• Must successfully complete and pass a background check for security clearance.
• Must have a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Valid driver's license.
• Less than a high school diploma.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical work and sufficient manual dexterity to handle items and work with fingers.

Responsibilities

• Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using a pick, shovel, or rake.
• Lift, carry, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
• Clean tools, equipment, materials, and the work area.
• Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
• Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe.
• Perform routine non-machine tasks, including removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trenches, and assembling pipe sections.
• Perform machine-related tasks such as tamping soil and jackhammering, and assist with pipe fusing.
• Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Provide leadership through example and sharing knowledge and skills.
• Drive as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
