About The Position

The Laborer assists a foreman and skilled craft workers with assigned duties under close supervision. This is usually an entry-level position and the first step toward learning a trade. The role involves routine manual and machine-assisted tasks on heavy civil construction work, including work at and around the Jacksonville airport. Candidates must successfully complete a background check for security clearance and have a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Requirements

A valid driver's license.
Must be able to drive.
Must successfully complete and pass a background check for security clearance.
Must have a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Less than a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using a pick, shovel, or rake.
Lift, carry, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
Clean tools, equipment, materials, and the work area.
Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe.
Perform routine non-machine tasks, including removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trenches, and assembling pipe sections.
Perform machine tasks such as tamping soil and jackhammering, and assist with pipe fusing.
Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provide leadership by example and share knowledge and skills.
Drive as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
