About The Position

The Laborer assists a Foreman and skilled craft workers with assigned duties under close supervision. This is usually an entry-level position and a first step toward learning a skill. The position involves work at and around the Jacksonville airport and requires successfully passing a background check for security clearance and having a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Work is performed outdoors in changing weather conditions and involves strenuous physical activity.

Requirements

A valid driver's license.
Must be able to drive.
Must successfully complete and pass a background check for security clearance.
Must have a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Ability to perform strenuous physical work and sufficient manual dexterity to reach and handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Responsibilities

Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using a pick, shovel, or rake.
Lift, carry, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
Clean tools, equipment, materials, and the work area.
Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe.
Perform routine non-machine tasks, including removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trenches, and assembling pipe sections.
Perform machine-related tasks such as tamping soil, jackhammering, and assisting with pipe fusing.
Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provide leadership to others through example and by sharing knowledge and skills.
Drive as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
