About The Position

The Laborer Apprentice contributes to construction projects by assisting general laborers, carpenters, and other crew members with site preparation, material handling, construction tasks, and site safety. On-the-job training is offered. This position is safety-sensitive.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and working outside.
• Physically able to perform assigned tasks.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time.
• Knowledge of carpentry and construction techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist carpenters by holding and securing lumber and ensuring it is level or plumb during installation.
• Assist with building forms for pouring concrete.
• Prepare work areas by transporting tools and equipment from storage facilities.
• Load and unload building materials for construction projects.
• Build and disassemble scaffolding, bracing, and other temporary structures used on construction sites.
• Remove debris and potential hazards to keep construction sites clean and safe.
• Dig trenches and holes needed for construction projects.
• Keep machines serviced.
• Follow instructions from supervisors, foremen, and carpenters.
