About The Position

As a Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Extensive training is provided for this role, making it suitable for individuals with or without prior lab experience. The position is full-time with excellent day-one benefits. You will work in either the Sample Management Department, where you will sort, tag, and prepare samples for testing, or the Parasitology Department, where you will prepare fecal samples for analyzers and use other techniques to identify ova or parasites. You will use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases. You will perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples, set up and run lab tests, and read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
Experience operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
Positive attitude and energy to support colleagues.
Ability to work in a team.
Concentration on details and ability to work reliably and precisely.
Great sense of team spirit and responsibility.
Able to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Nice To Haves

2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field.
Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT).
Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT).

Responsibilities

Sort, tag, and prepare samples for testing in the Sample Management Department.
Prepare fecal samples to be loaded and unloaded into analyzers in the Parasitology Department.
Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests.
Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples.
Set up and run lab tests.
Read and release results according to SOPs.
