  • At least two years of experience supporting healthcare technology, laboratory systems, clinical applications, interfaces, analyzer connectivity, or a related healthcare environment.
  • Experience supporting an LIS, EMR, healthcare interface, laboratory analyzer, middleware application, or comparable clinical system.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory operations or healthcare data workflows, including laboratory orders, specimens, testing, and result reporting.
  • Working knowledge of HL7 messaging and healthcare interoperability concepts.
  • Experience configuring, testing, validating, documenting, or troubleshooting clinical system workflows.
  • Understanding of data integrity, privacy, security, controlled documentation, and change-management requirements.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate across teams, and follow issues through resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary operational administrator and subject matter resource for the LIS and associated workflows; configure, test, validate, maintain, and optimize LIS functionality.
  • Maintain test catalogs, order codes, result dictionaries, reference ranges, reflex rules, report formats, specimen requirements, routing rules, and related system configuration.
  • Support end-to-end laboratory workflows from order entry and specimen collection through testing, result reporting, and downstream clinical use; translate laboratory and clinical needs into system requirements and workflow specifications.
  • Support user access and role-based permissions, system upgrades, vendor releases, regression testing, and production changes; monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, usability, data quality, and workflow efficiency.
  • Support interfaces among the LIS, EMR platforms, analyzers, middleware, reference laboratories, practice management systems, and other connected applications, including Dendi, Athena, Experity, and future LIS and EMR systems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot laboratory orders, results, acknowledgments, and HL7 messages, including missing, delayed, duplicate, incorrectly mapped, or improperly routed data.
  • Perform message validation, field mapping, reconciliation, error monitoring, and root-cause analysis; coordinate end-to-end interface testing for new tests, upgrades, routing changes, and workflow enhancements.
  • Maintain interface specifications, mapping documents, test scripts, validation evidence, issue logs, and support procedures; coordinate interface changes and issue resolution with internal teams, external laboratories, and vendors.
  • Support analyzer and middleware connectivity, order transmission, specimen routing, result delivery, instrument identifiers, and exception handling; troubleshoot connectivity problems, transmission failures, and result discrepancies while protecting data integrity and patient safety.
  • Support laboratory workstations, barcode scanners, label printers, specimen-labeling systems, and related technology; coordinate installation, configuration, inventory, maintenance, replacement, and vendor support.
  • Support reference laboratory and send-out testing workflows, including electronic orders, specimen routing, result delivery, corrections, and cancellations.
  • Participate in downtime response, recovery activities, business continuity processes, and operational support during critical incidents.
  • Support new assays, panels, instruments, interfaces, and laboratory services through workflow design, configuration, testing, validation, and implementation; build and test ordering workflows, result pathways, reflex logic, report formats, routing rules, and system dictionaries.
  • Validate the complete order-to-result lifecycle before implementation; develop test plans and scripts, coordinate user-acceptance testing, document defects, verify remediation, and retain validation evidence.
  • Participate in readiness reviews, cutover activities, go-live support, and post-launch stabilization.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, data extracts, and monitoring tools supporting quality, billing, compliance, and operational performance; support KPI reporting, turnaround-time monitoring, interface-reliability reporting, exception tracking, and recurring-issue analysis.
  • Reconcile data discrepancies across laboratory and clinical systems and support Power BI or comparable analytics tools.
  • Support laboratory systems and electronic records in accordance with applicable HIPAA, OSHA, HITECH, DHHS, CLIA, COLA, CAP accreditation, privacy, security, and organizational requirements.
  • Maintain controlled documentation for validation, testing, system changes, interface updates, release approvals, issue resolution, downtime, and recovery; participate in audit preparation, inspection readiness, quality assurance, and corrective action activities.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, training materials, knowledge articles, downtime instructions, and user support resources.
  • Provide technical and operational support to laboratory staff, clinic teams, providers, and other authorized users; educate users on laboratory ordering, specimen labeling, result review, downtime workflows, and system changes.
  • Communicate technical issues, risks, dependencies, status, and resolution steps to technical and nontechnical stakeholders; escalate concerns that may affect patient identification, specimen integrity, result accuracy, regulatory compliance, data security, or patient safety.
  • Participate in incident, problem, change, and release-management processes, including occasional after-hours support as operationally required.
