About The Position

The Laboratory Supervisor leads a knowledgeable laboratory team at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. The role oversees personnel across day, evening, and night shifts, including Clinical Lab Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Certified Phlebotomy Technicians, and Pathology Assistants, and oversees all technical aspects of Chemistry. The supervisor manages performance evaluations and provides one-on-one coaching and training for new hires, leads process improvements, and serves as a liaison between the laboratory and physicians and nurses. Bench coverage and meetings with direct reports may be needed across all three shifts.

This is a benefited, full-time position that generally works day shifts while supervising staff across all three shifts. Day shift is 0600–1430, evening shift is 1400–2230, and night shift is 2200–0630. Weekend work is required on a rotating basis, usually 1–2 weekends per month. The position may be eligible for retention and relocation incentives subject to the stated eligibility criteria. The role is eligible to participate in the Management Incentive Compensation Plan at the supervisor level.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience in lab services.
• At least 1.5 years of experience as a Clinical Lab Scientist.
• California CLS (MTA) license.

Nice To Haves

• Inpatient experience as a generalist Clinical Lab Scientist.
• 1–2 years of supervisor or lead experience.
• 2 years of experience as a Clinical Lab Scientist.
• Chemistry experience.

Responsibilities
