About The Position

ERCO Worldwide’s Port Edwards Plant is seeking a self-motivated, safety-conscious Laboratory Summer Intern for May through August 2027. Based on-site in Nekoosa, Wisconsin, the role supports effective laboratory operations by sampling, conducting standard tests, measuring and recording data, entering results, and following established procedures and health and safety guidelines. The position is temporary and contract-based, with a schedule of 40 hours per week and pay of $21–$25 per hour.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree.
• Strong understanding of OSHA and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques, terminology, equipment, and materials.
• Knowledge of chemical testing and analysis principles and practices, including preparation of materials, equipment, and samples.
• Ability to use and maintain laboratory equipment for standard chemical, biological, and physical testing.

Nice To Haves

• Be a third- or fourth-year student currently enrolled in the degree program.
• At least one year of laboratory-based chemistry experience.
• Previous work in an industrial laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control analysis of final products and in-process liquors according to company procedures and safety protocols.
• Collect samples for external testing.
• Occasionally supervise barge loading.
• Enter test results and create Certificates of Analysis when needed.
• Maintain sampling, analytical, and monitoring equipment and ensure it remains within calibration.
• Conduct routine utility water analysis and add treatment chemicals to cooling towers and boilers.
• Analyze outflow environmental samples for discharge permit compliance.
• Prepare reagents for the laboratory and operators’ test stations.
• Perform additional tasks supporting laboratory operations as directed by the Supervisor and laboratory staff.
