About The Position

Sonic Reference Laboratory, Inc. is hiring a full-time Laboratory Specimen Processor I in Austin, Texas. This benefits-eligible position is part of Laboratory Operations and is scheduled for 40 hours per week. The listed schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.; the posting also identifies the work shift as 2nd Shift.

The role supports clinical laboratory operations by receiving and checking specimens, identifying order or specimen issues, preparing samples, and entering data. The position requires attention to detail, typing proficiency, a sense of urgency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. A sign-on bonus is available.

Requirements

• Associate degree or phlebotomy certification with a high school diploma.
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
• Typing proficiency, including 10-key.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or certification in a medical program technologist program.
• At least 2 years of laboratory training or experience in specimen collection and processing.
• Data entry experience in a laboratory production environment.

Responsibilities

• Open and verify check shipper sample types and ensure they are empty.
• Complete specimen receipt logs.
• Receive specimens and forward problem samples or orders to exception handling.
• Identify ordering, labeling, and specimen issues.
• Aliquot samples.
• Ship samples to other referral laboratories.
• Perform data entry.
