About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor to join its team in RTP, North Carolina. The role prepares, identifies, routes, stores, and ships laboratory specimens for analysis and testing. It also includes entering patient information, meeting department production goals, and resolving and documenting specimen problems. The position works Tuesday through Friday from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts may be needed depending on business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turnaround times.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

• At least 3 months of specimen processing experience.
• At least 3 months of medical or laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Unpack specimens and route them to their respective staging areas.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Enter patient information accurately and promptly.
• Resolve and document problem specimens.
