About The Position
The Laboratory Service Engineer maintains and upgrades equipment in Lam’s applications lab, working hands-on with state-of-the-art equipment to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration. The role supports innovative equipment through installation and documentation and contributes to concept and feasibility hardware to enhance current and develop next-generation semiconductor equipment for customers. The position operates in an R&D environment and involves collaboration with process development, hardware, and software engineering teams on R&D activities, customer demonstrations, and equipment support. It also includes safe handling of hazardous gas and liquid materials and installation and support of prototype equipment, with procedures and documentation developed as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 12 or more years of work experience; or an associate degree in a technical field or equivalent military training and 14 or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent work experience.
Nice To Haves
- Experience troubleshooting electrical, electromechanical, fluidic, and vacuum systems.
- Proficiency using a variety of hand tools and electronic test equipment for maintenance, repair, and assembly tasks.
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment while wearing personal protective equipment or a cleanroom suit.
- Semiconductor industry experience or understanding of Lam products.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and calibrations on equipment in an R&D environment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electromechanical, electronic, and vacuum equipment.
- Safely handle hazardous gas and liquid materials using required personal protective equipment.
- Partner with process development, hardware, and software engineering teams on R&D activities, customer demonstrations, and equipment support.
- Install and support prototype equipment, and develop procedures and documentation.
- Maintain alignment on priorities across tasks through clear and proactive communication.
