About The Position

ATI is hiring a Lab Tech 5 (Chemistry) for its Monroe, North Carolina facility. The position is part of an analytical process that ensures products meet industry and customer chemistry specifications. The Lab Tech takes samples of metal material and tests them using specific protocols. Success requires good reasoning, attention to detail, and the ability to read and carry out complex technical procedures.

This is a night-shift role, 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule: work two days, take two days off, work three days, take two days off, work two days, then take three days off. Training is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Good reasoning skills.
• Ability to read and carry out complex technical procedures.
• Good attention to detail.
• Math skills, including decimals, fractions, rounding, averaging, and recognizing number patterns.
• Time management skills.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Measuring skills.
• Computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Two-year technical degree, advanced high school education in Chemistry, or one year of related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples by hand polishing or using a small drill press.
• Break down, reassemble, and calibrate machines to verify samples.
• Enter results into the LIM System.
• File samples in the designated retention area.
• Take samples of metal material and test them using specific protocols to help ensure products meet chemistry specifications.
