About The Position

This established position will be responsible for the daily promotion of suppliers and products within the VWR Furniture portfolio. This is a customer facing role, with an expectation of meeting with customers 5 days per week. The role involves selling the entire VWR Lab Design and Furniture product portfolio within the Eastern PA, Southern NJ and upstate NY Territory. The specialist will assist customers with the design and product selection for building out their lab space in all market segments (Educational/Medical Research, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Production, Healthcare). They will identify leads and close both transactional everyday furniture opportunities, and full lab renovation and expansion projects. Additionally, the specialist will train VWR general reps on all aspects of the furniture program and motivate them to sell target product areas. Communication with VWR sales reps, customers, suppliers, estimators, designers, project coordinators and installers is key. The role also involves managing the Furniture portfolio in the local area, ensuring effective communication to sales reps, sales managers, and area vice presidents of sales goals, trends, and performance, in support of local sales growth plans. The goal is to ensure that the VWR Furniture Program is best-in-class. The specialist will assume overall territory ownership, along with VWR general sales reps and management team by attending regional meetings, strategy sessions, key account blitzes and on-site technical seminars. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS degree in construction science or related scientific area preferred, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 3-5 years sales experience preferred
  • Ability to understand architectural plans and specifications; prepare material take-offs; and estimate costs.
  • Be a proactive individual, as well as have solid communication, organizational, time-management, and PC skills
  • Be a self-starter that is quickly motivated, effectively implements programs, recognizes opportunities, communicates ideas, and acts with little direction in a fluid and matrixed environment
  • Willing to travel overnight
  • Willing to travel to customer locations minimum 3 days a week; must hold valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Construction sales a plus
  • Divisions 10, 11, 12 a plus
  • Experience in project management and ability to use AutoCAD is a plus.
