About The Position

The Laboratory Equipment Support Technician is the primary point of contact for routine laboratory equipment maintenance. The role keeps critical instruments clean, functional, and available to support testing activities, working collaboratively with laboratory scientists in a fast-paced environment. This is a 2–3 month, full-time contract position based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and overtime as needed. Candidates should live within commuting distance of Cambridge. Compensation is $24–$28 per hour.

Requirements

Associate’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant laboratory experience, or a high school diploma with 5–7 years of experience in an academic, biotech, or pharmaceutical laboratory.
Proven experience with laboratory equipment maintenance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Serve as the main point of contact for routine laboratory equipment maintenance needs.
Refill incubator water on a routine schedule.
Coordinate and perform annual disinfection of incubators and biosafety cabinets.
Conduct monthly freezer de-icing.
Coordinate and perform annual freezer defrosts.
Communicate with laboratory scientists to schedule maintenance around active testing and minimize disruptions.
Perform additional responsibilities as needed and as time permits.
