About The Position

BWXT Medical Ltd. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading, understanding, and following technical procedures, performing work according to established Standard Operating Procedures and Process Control Records, and being familiar with cleanroom and equipment disinfecting. Excellent record-keeping skills and the ability to follow procedures closely are essential.

Requirements

Minimum High School education with some post-secondary training or 2 years relevant work experience in chemistry, physics or biology.
Good manual dexterity and grip strength.
Ability to use hands/arms on a constant basis.
Ability to work at and above shoulder height.
Ability to push and pull carts with a force of up to 25kgs on an occasional basis.
Ability to lift up to 10kgs on an occasional basis.
Ability to wear a respirator for extended periods of time.
Must be free of a communicable disease.
Must not have a sloughing skin condition (i.e. severe dandruff, eczema, psoriasis).

Responsibilities

Read, understand and follow technical procedures.
Perform work to established Standard Operating Procedures and Process Control Records.
Be familiar with all aspects of cleanroom and equipment disinfecting.
Maintain excellent record-keeping skills.
Follow a variety of procedures closely.
Use aseptic technique and don a clean room suit.
Remain in a clean room for potentially up to 3 hours at a time.
