About The Position

Good Samaritan Hospital is seeking a PRN Laboratory Assistant to join their team. This role involves obtaining and processing specimens, assisting with clerical duties, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and performing courier duties as needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate compassion and respect towards fellow employees and customers, and actively promote the hospital's mission, vision, and PRIDE values. This position is part of a dedicated team that provides trusted, industry-leading healthcare to southwest Indiana and southwest Illinois.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Obtain blood and other specimens from patients and process them correctly.
  • Correctly process specimens received through the tube system or brought from outside sources.
  • Assist in clerical duties.
  • Disinfect all counters each shift.
  • Clean morgue when needed, and maintain supplies.
  • Perform courier duties when needed.
  • Engage both fellow employees and customers with compassion and respect.
  • Promote the Hospital Mission and Vision statement: Provide excellent health care and promote healing through trusting relationships, and to be recognized as the regional center of excellence for health care.
  • Actively practice our PRIDE values.

  • Review and sign all educational material that is made available.
  • Keep phlebotomy trays clean and maintained with supplies so they are always ready for use.
  • Keep break room, clean and organized.
