About The Position

This is a PRN (as needed) Laboratory Assistant position within the Core Lab at Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States. The role involves working varying and rotating hours, with no set weekly hours. Key duties include drawing blood from adult and pediatric patients, processing various biological specimens, operating centrifuges, and accurately entering patient information and laboratory orders/results into the computer system. The assistant will also aid in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies, ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) preferred
• May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a formal phlebotomy program
• Phlebotomy experience
• Experience in a laboratory-related field

Responsibilities

• Drawing blood from adult and pediatric patients
• Processing of blood and non-blood specimens
• Operating centrifuges
• Entering patient information into the computer system
• Collecting, preparing and processing biological specimens
• Assisting in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks
• Aiding in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies
• Entering laboratory orders and results
• Ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment
