About The Position
This position is responsible for accurately accessioning and registering specimens for processing and testing. The Laboratory Assistant Advanced maintains high quality and productivity as required by the department, following designated procedures for labeling and processing, and sorting and delivering specimens to technical areas as assigned. They will also prepare solutions, reagents, and supplies, and operate all necessary equipment in the designated laboratory. Additionally, the role involves answering the phone and paging system as needed and adhering to College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Works in a busy environment around physicians, technologists, and other hospital team members.
- Works in an area that contains biohazardous (infectious) materials along with chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards.
- May be required to stoop, reach and lift light (20 pound) to moderately heavy (50 pound) loads.
- May be required to stand and or walk for extended periods of time.
