Laboratory Accessioner
About The Position
American Health Associates is hiring a full-time Laboratory Accessioner in Euclid, Ohio. The role supports clinical laboratory operations by accurately entering patient and test information, processing and preparing specimens for in-house and reference laboratory testing, and ensuring specimens are routed to the proper departments. The Accessioner also helps maintain specimen stability, identify and resolve specimen errors, prepare samples and paperwork for external locations, and perform accessioning-related reporting and follow-up. The position requires independent work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking, troubleshooting, and communication with coworkers, clients, patients, and visitors. The employee is expected to maintain a clean and safe work environment, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and support laboratory goals, policies, procedures, and philosophy.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Data entry experience.
- Experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with coworkers, clients, patients, and/or visitors.
Responsibilities
- Enter patient demographic and test information accurately into the computer system.
- Process and accession laboratory samples for in-house and reference laboratory testing.
- Troubleshoot problems when necessary.
- Set up and prepare samples for testing, ensure specimens are delivered to the proper department, and place them on the instrument.
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, wear proper personal protective equipment, and support workplace safety.
- Ensure specimen stability, identify specimen errors, and follow procedures to correct problems, including proper documentation and completion of work.
- Support laboratory goals, policies, procedures, and philosophy.
- Prepare samples and paperwork to be sent to the appropriate reference laboratory or American Health Associates location.
- Scan requisitions, run missing requisition reports, and follow up.
