About The Position

The California School Employees Association (CSEA) is seeking a Labor Relations Representative to represent its members in the Placerville, CA area. This is a full-time, home-office position that reports to the Field Director in the Sacramento Field Office. The role requires significant travel, including frequent nights and weekend hours. The Labor Relations Representative plays a crucial role in recruiting, training, and developing members, leading and mobilizing them for political action, and serving as their primary advocate. This position involves assisting with representational matters for CSEA, which represents over 250,000 school employees across California in various roles such as para-educators, administrators, food service staff, bus drivers, nurses, and skilled maintenance workers. CSEA is the largest classified school employee union in the AFL-CIO and is dedicated to improving the lives of classified school employees by securing benefits, pensions, protections, and funding. The mission is to champion the rights, dignity, and welfare of working people, with values including advocating for affordable healthcare and security for working families.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits and trains members
  • Negotiates contracts
  • Provides leadership to rank-and-file negotiators and committees in collective bargaining
