This position is located at a Level II Trauma Center with advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) services. The facility is equipped with a robust Labor and Delivery unit, handling a diverse range of high-acuity obstetric cases. Responsibilities will include caring for patients experiencing hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections (approximately 33% C-section rate), preterm labor, insulin drips (occasionally, per protocol), various delivery methods including vaginal deliveries and inductions, high acuity antepartum and postpartum cases, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage management. Staffing ratios are in accordance with AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active laboring patients, and 1:2-3 for antepartum based on acuity. The unit is supported by CNAs for transports, restocking, and assisting in the operating room, with phlebotomy and 24/7 Respiratory Therapy services available. Orientation includes hospital training followed by unit-specific onboarding, CAP and unit training, and preceptorship. Weekend rotation is every other weekend with some variability. Shift times are typically 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The schedule is created in six-week cycles and released two weeks prior. Free parking is available, and scrubs are provided.
