About The Position

Basalite Building Products, LLC manufactures concrete masonry products, including structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and sack goods. Under the supervision of the Plant Supervisor, the Labor, Concrete employee supports the block and tiger plants in all areas of production and demonstrates the company’s Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation, and Financial Success. The position performs other related duties as assigned. This regular, full-time position works a scheduled shift from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Compensation is $18.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus a $2.50-per-hour shift differential. The role includes competitive compensation and benefits.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
On-the-job training experience sufficient to perform the duties.
Ability to operate a splitter, cuber, and other equipment required for the duties.
Basic reading and writing skills.
Basic mathematics and counting skills.
Ability to work as a team player.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and interact with others.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Professional manner when dealing with employees and the public.
Valid driver’s license if driving on the organization’s behalf.
Ability to operate mobile electronic equipment if required.
Predictable and regular attendance; ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Ability to meet the physical demands, including lifting or moving up to 100 pounds and performing the listed standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and bending activities.
Ability to work in the described plant environment and wear required personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

Operate splitting equipment and verify that it is running properly and safely.
Operate cubing and packaging machines and verify that equipment is running properly and safely.
Check product quality and discard substandard product.
Mark and tag finished-product cubes properly.
Operate forklifts in production environments.
Assist machine operators as needed.
Perform daily cleaning procedures on production equipment.
Inspect pallets to ensure concrete products are stacked neatly.
Stack or restack concrete products by hand as necessary.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance on dry-line equipment.
Perform and document daily preoperational inspections of equipment and work areas.
Meet regularly with the supervisor.
Keep the work area clean and clutter-free according to company standards.
Attend safety meetings, follow company and regulatory safety rules, and ensure hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
Maintain predictable and regular attendance and work overtime and weekends as needed.
Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the company or its designated representatives.
